If you’re planning on being in New York, celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with the 5 Boro PicNYC on Governors Island this Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $25, which gets you unlimited food sampling from 11:30am-2pm— but the ferry is free!

Then on Memorial Day, the 145th Kings County Memorial Day Parade (the oldest continuously running parade in the U.S.) starts at 11am at 87th Street and Third Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Hopefully you managed to snag tickets (they sell out at least a month in advance every year) to Night Market: Asian Street Food this Saturday night. Part of the 2012 LUCKYRICE Festival, Night Market takes place under the Manhattan Bridge near by boe headquarters in DUMBO. Definitely reminds us of street markets in Asia, and we’re hoping the food is just as good.

We’ve heard the culinary delights are not to be missed, but if you haven’t gotten off the waiting list for tickets yet, the concert portion of Night Market is free and open to the public. There are plenty of places along Front Street to grab dinner before heading over to see the awesomely named The Notorious MSG and Late Cambrian.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome to our new neighborhood! Technically we’re in Vinegar Hill, but the Vinegar Hill/DUMBO/Fulton Ferry areas are so tiny that they’re usually just referred to as DUMBO, which is the best known. DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass and is a cool little waterfront neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Don’t you love the unique architecture and the cobblestone streets? Now that the weather is warming up we like to walk through Brooklyn Bridge Park, where there are awesome views of the bridges and Manhattan. There are so many cool shops and restaurants to explore on Front Street. Don’t miss blueberi for a well-curated mix of vintage and current clothing styles or Modern Anthology for home furnishings and gifts for the men in your life. Stop in at Punto Bianco for pastries or light lunch, Al Mar for dinner, and don’t forget the Shops at 145 Front Street for local artisans and designers.

Hope you enjoyed the photo intro to our neighborhood!
